The VCB Conservatory is unique among local dance studios.  The program is based on the Cecchetti syllabus, the oldest classical methodology of dance.  In addition, Ms. Kelly uses innovative teaching concepts derived from anatomy and kinesiology.  Thus, Ms. Kelly brings together the old and the new with a fresh approach to the classical.

The VCB Conservatory is a performing arts studio, and as such, offers a multitude of performing opportunities.  These performances range from fully staged classical ballets to community outreach shows to competitions.  Ballet, jazz, and musical theater students all have the chance to hone their performing skills in diverse venues.  There is truly something for everyone.

The goal of the Conservatory is to offer training in clean technique to all students regardless of their long-term goals.  VCB offers equal opportunity to all students, whether they are taking class for enjoyment or aspiring to a dance career.  Students who so desire may take graded Cecchetti examinations (with the Director’s approval).

As students grow and develop their dance skills, they may audition for the following:

Trainee Company

For students 13 to 15 years of age.  These students are enrolled in the conservatory and understudy the apprentice dancers.  In addition, they lead younger students in dances.

Apprentice Company

For students 16 to 18 years of age, with professional training.  Apprentice dancers are welcome from any studio or locale (dancers need not attend VCB).  Apprentice dancers perform with the VCB Company when appropriate.  They also receive lead roles in productions and additional free coaching.
